300 grandparents celebrate their right to see their grandchild

This year, Grandparents Day was held in April. It was celebrated by many, including those that attend Bethel University. The entire day was dedicated to the bond that grandparents share with their grandchildren. From the opening remarks by President Jay Barnes to the campus tours that the families walked together, the focus was on those with immeasurable life experience.

This was an event that was taken seriously, with nearly 300 grandparents in attendance to also show support for those that they helped bring into the world. Some of these grandparents even flew across the nation, hailing from a total of 14 states.

The pride that these individuals had in the success of their grandchildren and the joy that they experienced was evident in the remarks collected that day. One proud grandparent said that “being with our granddaughter” was the best part of the day “of course!”

Schools, churches and other groups take the time to celebrate Grandparents Day for many reasons. A major reason is the fact that the grandparent-grandchild relationship is an important one. Unfortunately, not all grandparents get to enjoy this relationship and in other cases it may not been taken seriously.

A Minneapolis attorney that focuses on child custody issues can help enforce a grandparent’s rights, whether this involves ensuring visitation time during or after a divorce or gaining temporary or permanent custody in situations in which the parent may not be able to care for the child. A grandparent doesn’t want to leave the outcome of this enormously important issue in the hands of anyone.
