On Oct. 3, a Minnesota man and woman were taken into custody after being accused of being involved in the sale of methamphetamine in the St. Cloud area. The man was identified as a 29-year-old Sartell resident and the woman was identified as a 26-year-old Sauk Rapids resident.
The criminal complaint said that an ongoing investigation on the woman was in process at the time she was detained. It was believed that she was responsible for selling large amounts of meth. On multiple occasions throughout August and September, a confidential informant made control buys from the woman. The substances that were purchased tested positive for meth.
On the day that the two individuals were detained, investigators saw the man sitting in the passenger seat of the woman’s vehicle. After they observed the man accepting a backpack from another person in the car, the authorities conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle and took both individuals into custody. During a search of the vehicle, 93 grams of meth were seized. Authorities also found drug paraphernalia and cash. Both individuals were scheduled to return to court in late October.
Being accused of selling drugs can have a major impact on a person’s future. A conviction of these types of drug charges can result in serious consequences, including a prison sentence and heavy fines. Those who have been convicted could also find it difficult to obtain gainful employment upon their release. As such, people who are facing these types of charges might want to meet with a criminal defense attorney as soon as possible so that a strategy to combat the allegations can be constructed.
