Freya Elizabeth Vieira

Freya Vieira is an associate attorney at Groshek Law with a proven history in criminal defense. With a background in public defense and human rights, Freya approaches all cases and clients with compassion, understanding, and zealous advocacy.

Freya earned her undergraduate degree (LLB) in Law with Criminology from the University of the West of England, in Bristol, UK. Throughout this program, Freya led a clinical pro bono group, advocating for the rights of British nationals on death row abroad. During this time, Freya was a key note speaker in many human rights and capital defense focused talks and events. After graduating, she attended Queen’s University Belfast and completed her masters degree (LLM) in Human Rights and Criminal Justice.

Freya earned her Juris Doctorate and LLM in U.S. Law from the University of St. Thomas School of Law. During law school, she clerked at the Hennepin County Public Defenders Office where she was responsible for drafting memoranda to the court, arguing contested hearings, and supporting attorneys in defending clients. Upon passing the bar in 2022, Freya was hired as a Public Defender. As a Public Defender, Freya spent two years on the Misdemeanor/Gross Misdemeanor team, before moving to the Felony division. In this role, Freya represented clients through every type of case, and was responsible for countless bail hearings, contested evidentiary hearings, extensive motion writing and oral argument, and multiple successful trials.

Outside of court, you’ll find Freya with her dog Georgia, or trying one of the many new restaurants that the Twin Cities has to offer.
