Anna Elizabeth Tobia

Anna joined the Groshek Law team in 2018, bringing a unique analytical and compassionate approach to client representation. She has dedicated her practice to being proactive, prepared and professional. Anna rigorously defends her clients and has a passion for thoroughly investigating cases and researching unique legal issues. She was recently recognized for being a top rated criminal defense attorney in Minnesota and designated a Rising Star Super Lawyer in 2022 and 2023. 

Beginning her career in criminal defense with one of the top attorneys in the practice area allowed Anna to hone her litigation skills in cases including allegations of criminal sexual conduct, child abuse, domestic abuse and possession/distribution of child pornography as well as a variety of other criminal cases ranging from misdemeanor to felony. 

Anna turned her passion and experience to family law, where she takes a practical, calm approach to helping clients through the toughest periods in their lives, including dissolution, high asset cases and spousal maintenance disputes, child custody disputes, third-party custody, paternity, and orders for protection. Anna's wide-range of experience allows her to provide her clients with practical advice in all situations. 

Prior to joining Groshek Law, Anna attended Winona State University where she graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Law & Society. She then attended North Hennepin Community College where she received her Certificate in Paralegal Studies. Her passion for law continued and in 2014, she began her studies at Mitchell Hamline School of Law in Saint Paul, Minnesota. During law school, Anna worked as a certified student attorney for the Washington County Public Defender’s Office where she represented clients in bail hearings. Her final year of law school was spent as a law clerk at the Dakota County Public Defender’s Office where she represented juveniles in delinquency matters. Anna graduated from Mitchell Hamline School of Law in 2017. 

Following graduation from Mitchell Hamline, Anna worked as a law clerk for the Honorable Steve R. Schwab in Freeborn County District Court, Albert Lea, MN. There, she gained invaluable experience in family law, criminal law, juvenile delinquency and child protection which she applies to her practice today.
