About the Eugene A. Merrill House
Groshek Law, 2116 Second Avenue South, is conveniently located in one of Minneapolis' beautiful Historic Buildings.
The house, built in the French Renaissance/Chateauesque style, is the only local grand mansion of the 1880's that survives. Purchased in 1887 by lawyer and banker Eugene A. Merrill it is the first of several homes in the district designed by William Channing Whitney.
Whitney, a Massachusetts native and an MIT alumnus, was remarkably skillful in his lavish design styles of the period and also designed the Minnesota Building at the 1893 Chicago World's Fair.
